The Westhope Group of which I was a member, were planning to stage an exhibition at the Central Museum and Art Gallery in Northampton Aug/Sept 1999 and we were each to produce two works.  One was to be in colour and the other in white but both works to be inspired from the same theme.

I knew immediately that my white piece would be the story of the Snow Queen written by Hans Andersen, which brought back memories of the story being read to me as a child. I could visualise a picture of the Snow Queen in her sleigh, being pulled by reindeer over her castle made of ice!

My coloured piece was to be of 'The Little Mermaid' also by Hans Andersen and my chosen medium was that of stumpwork/raised embroidery.  Visit STUMPWORK/3D to see the completed work.
